St. Andrew’s chaplet is a novena to prepare for Christmas. Although named after Saint Andrew, since the novena begins on his liturgical feast day, November 30th, it is not actually addressed to this saint, but to God Himself, asking Him to grant our request in the honor of the birth of His Son at Christmas. The chaplet assists in praying the one prayer of the novena the traditional 15 times each day from November 30th until Christmas Eve, inclusive. It is believed that whoever recites the St. Andrew Christmas novena will obtain the favor requested.

St. Andrew’s Christmas Novena Prayer

St. Andrew's Christmas and Advent Novena Chaplet

✞ In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

On the medal say: Almighty God, who didst give such grace to thine apostle Andrew that he readily obeyed the call of thy Son Jesus Christ, and brought his brother with him: Give unto us, who are called by thy Word, grace to follow Him without delay, and to bring those near to us into his gracious presence; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

/The prayer is prayed fifteen times a day, and the fifteen beads help you keep track/

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment
In which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary at midnight,
in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold.
In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God,
to hear my prayer and grant my desires,

[here mention your request]

through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ and of His blessed Mother. Amen.

Imprimatur: Michael Augustine, Archbishop of New York, New York, February 6, 1897.

O Come, O Come, Emanuel.”
